About the museums
Museu Picasso
The Museu Picasso of Barcelona was opened in 1963 and is the reference centre for Pablo Picasso’s earlier years. The museum has more than 4,000 pieces in its permanent collection and offers one of the best places in the world to get up close to Pablo's genius.
Museum Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC)
The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) is home to a unique collection which includes Romanesque murals, Gothic and Renasissance pieces, and a large collection of other art and design objects. The Modernisme section is a firm favourite of visitors as well as the rooftop which offers you a 360º view of Barcelona.
Fundació Joan Miró
Located on the famous Montjuïc hill overlooking Barcelona, the Fundació Joan Miró is home to a collection of more than 14,000 pieces of work by the artist and includes paintings, sculptures, drawings and tapestry works. The museum was desgined by a close friend of Miró, the famous architect Josep Lluis Sert and was opened in 1975. Some of the works on display include The Farm, The Gold of Azure, Mural Painting and Constellations.
