About Wax Museum Barcelona (Museo de Cera de Barcelona)
The Barcelona Wax Museum (or Museo de Cera de Barcelona as its known locally) is located just off the famous 'Las Ramblas' in the heart of the city in a former bank building.
The museum offers an immersive experience for visitors to enjoy, bringing to life some of the most iconic figures from history, art, popular culture, sports stars and of course the movies.
The museum dates back to 1973, having been established by the Catalan sculptor Cristina Lucas and the museum has since become a cultural landmark in the city.
Lucas, who was renowned for her exceptional craftsmanship, envisioned a space where visitors could interact with lifelike representations of historical and contemporary figures.
The museum has undergone expansions and renovations to ensure that it stays relevant and captivates for visitors of all ages and is now home to over 350 wax figures and scenes set out over 28 halls.
When visitors enter they are greeted by an fun selection of wax figures that span various cultures including legendary historical figures like Leonardo da Vinci and Queen Elizabeth I to modern-day icons such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí, the museum offers a diverse selection that appeals to a broad audience.
