About Tibidabo Amusement Park on Mount Tibidabo
Tibidabo Amusement Park also known as 'Tibidabo Park', 'Parc d'Atraccions Tibidabo' (in Catalan), or just 'Tibidabo' is not only the oldest amusement park in Spain, having opened in 1901, but is also one of the oldest in the whole of Europe.
Tibidabo park offers incredible panoramic views of Barcelona as it sits on the top of a hill called 'Mount Tibidabo' which stands at over 500 meters above sea level in an area called 'Serra de Collserola', next to a church called 'The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor' which is actually a minor basilica.
Tibidabo offers rides for all sizes, for children and for adults, so its a great day out that can be enjoyed by families and adults alike. With both classic and modern rides to enjoy including the famous classics like:
- The Tibidabo Carousel, which dates back to 1928.
- The Tibidabo Skywalk
- The Avió, an aeroplane themed ride that is actually based on the first aircraft that flow from Barcelona to Madrid in 1927!
- The Giradabo, the famous panoramic ferris wheel that sits on the highest part of the mountain and offers incredible views of the city.
Getting to Tibidabo
- Tibidabo Funicular: Our Tibidabo ticket also includes a return trip on the Tibidabo Funicular (Cuca de Llum) and the TibiBus shuttles that run when the park is in open season. This is especially fun for the kids. You need to purchase a separate ticket for the return journey.
- Bus Option - the T2A bus from Plaça de Catalunya. The buses run at regular intervals from 10:15AM
- Tramvia Blua - You can use this option in conjunction with the Tibidabo Funicular. The tram runs frequently every 20-minutes from Avinguda Tibidabo (metro station) to the start of the Tibidabo Funicular. The Tramvia Blau is probably the most beautiful journey allowing you to take in the views as you travel up the 1276 metre tramline to 93 meters above sea level, then on to the Funicular for the rest of the journey.
