Primates!
Next is the Primate Paradise section which offers an intimate encounter with a diverse range of primates including chimpanzees, gorillas, and other playful monkeys which thrive in thoughtfully crafted habitats that mirror their natural environments, providing valuable insights into their social dynamics and behaviours. This is something that is of the utmost important to the zoo. They try to replicate the animals natural living environments helping them feel as comfortable as possible at the zoo to help them thrive.
Aquatic Creatures!
In the aquatic section you will find some playful Californian Sea Lions. Did you know that Sea Lions are different to seals because they have smaller external ear flaps and they also have the ability to bend their rear flippers to help them move on land! You will also find some fun penguins in this section. Penguins normally bring a smile to most visitors faces! Its the Humboldt Penguin that lives at Barcelona Zoo and you will likely see them snacking on some fish!
The aquatic section also includes other graceful animals such as a myriad of colourful fish. This section invites visitors to explore the mysteries of the deep!
Big Cats!
For enthusiasts of big cats, the Feline Kingdom is a majestic realm where lions, tigers, and leopards roam in spacious enclosures and do what big cats do (lie down for most of the day!).
Informative displays in the zones not only showcase the raw power and grace of these creatures but also underscore the zoo's commitment to conservation and how they are trying to help protect and increase the dwindling numbers of big cats around the world with their conservation efforts.
Elephants!
The Elephant Oasis also shows Barcelona Zoo's dedication to animal welfare. The expansive spaces, enriched environments, and a focus on conservation help to make this area a favourite among visitors. You can observe these gentle giants in a setting that mirrors their natural habitats which showcases the zoo's commitment to providing a home where the animals can flourish. You will always find a crowd watching the African Bush Elephants!
Reptiles!
From slithering snakes to fearsome crocodiles and various others in between such as little lizards and poisen dart frogs! The Reptile Realm offers a glimpse into the world of reptiles. The zoo offers engaging educational programs that shed light on the vital roles that these creatures play in their ecosystems and help to foster a deeper appreciation for their unique characteristics.
Children's Zoo!
The Children’s Zoo has been designed with the youngest visitors in mind. A dynamic space of education and fun with interactive exhibits that allow kids to connect with farm animals which helps to foster a sense of responsibility and respect for all living beings. This area exemplifies Barcelona Zoo's dedication to creating a family-friendly environment. In this section you will find favourites such as cheeky goats, cows, sheep, pigs, horses, donkey's and even an incredibly rare Catalan Donkey! The space also has some smaller animals to interact with such as rabbits, mice and hamsters, all with the purpose of introducing animals to kids.
Botanical Beauty!
